Here’s my story…
Hi, I’m Candice.
When I’m not busy running my one-woman copywriting show, I spend the rest of my time chasing three kids and cleaning up messes.
But my days weren’t always this glamorous.
I used to work as a paralegal in a law office handling elder law and estate planning before I decided, at the age of 25, to return to school to teach English. I enjoyed working in the law, but words and reading have always been where I found my bliss, so I figured why not teach it.
I graduated with my bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University in secondary education with an emphasis in English. This is a fancy way of saying I took a lot of classes on teaching teenagers, and I read a lot of books and wrote a lot of papers (a lot of papers).
I very much enjoyed my 8 years of teaching high school. Some days it was amazing to see them grow and learn and have these little light bulbs going off over their heads. And other days it was a student deciding to drop his pants in class so he could tuck his shirt in. Most days, it was a toss-up between the two.
I got my master’s degree in English from Northern Arizona University during this time and tried out teaching community college. I thought it’d provide me a bit with what I missed from my college days – deep discussion about literature and writing. But it turns out when you teach English 101 and 102 the students like taking your class about as much as high school students.
And I know you have to be asking, how could I leave that all behind? Well, it all starts with a love story and ends with me getting pregnant and wanting to stay home with our baby.
So I started on the path of becoming a work-from-home mom.
Along the way, we also decided to add another two kids to the mix – twins, just so you know the level of challenge I enjoy.
But thankfully I have an awesome partner who supports my boss lady ideas and reminds me it’s important to let others help.
Which is all a pretty good summary of how I ended up here, introducing myself to you and looking to help you by being an awesome partner.
Because I won’t succeed unless you succeed, and since I have three little people, a husband, and two cats depending on my success, I have some heavy motivation to see you win as a businesswoman.
